Ross Berger is a creative writer, narrative designer, and adjunct professor based in Los Angeles. He is the author of Dramatic Storytelling & Narrative Design: A Writer’s Guide to Video Games & Transmedia (CRC Press, 2020), a “how to” for game writers and screenwriters, and is the editor/contributor of Storytelling for New Technologies & Platforms: A Writer’s Guide to Theme Parks, Virtual Reality, Board Games, Virtual Assistants, and More (CRC Press, 2022). His published short stories include “Dear Barkley” (2019), “Football with Leatherman” (2020), “Evie A.I.” (2021), and “Kleiner in the Woods” (2022).

For the TV and digital screens, he has written for Law & Order (Episode “Gov Love”) and the Webby-Award winning LonelyGirl15 and The Obama Girl franchises. He also served as the supervising producer for the social media/television gaming experience The Runner. He has written video games for Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Meta (Oculus Rift), and others. Some of these titles include: CSI: Deadly Intent, Shadows of the Damned, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, Farlands, Eclipse: Edge of Light, NBA Live 18 & 19, and a to-be-announced game from Niantic Labs. Projects that one might say are “off the beaten track” include writing the NCIS board game and designing A.I.-driven content for chatbots and physical robots.

A graduate of Brandeis (BA, Philosophy) and Columbia (MFA, Playwriting) universities, Ross is an adjunct assistant professor at University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts and an adjunct professor at Art Center College of Design.
